Annabel Karmel mini meatballs

From the moment I started weaning Amelia,I have used Annabel Karmel’s two receipe book-100 purées and Weaning,I just change the ingredients sometimes to suit what’s in my kitchen cupboard or what Amelia likes.
Last night I made these mini meatballs, they taste yummy and will serve with some carrot sticks and broccoli, Amelia can pick at those.
Easy to make and taste yummy.when living in the UK I always used Heinz baby stock cubes, which have very little salt,I can’t seem to find them here,so use Kallo organic low salt stock cubes as an alternative.

INGREDIENTS
2 tsp olive oil
1 medium onion
1 garlic clove
200g lean minced beef
45g fresh white breadcrumbs (2 medium slices of bread)
1 tbsp chopped parsley
15g Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
1 tsp tomato purée
½ small eating apple
¼ unsalted stock cube, crumbled
1 egg, beaten
Vegetable oil, for frying

Mix together the beef, breadcrumbs, parsley, Paremsan, tomato purée, apple and stock cube. Stir in the sautéed onion and garlic, and add the beaten egg to bind.
Form the mixture into 25 mini meatballs. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and sauté, until browned and cooked inside. Drain on kitchen paper.

DIY MEMORIES

When Amelia was 6 weeks I wanted to make a special memory.I decided to do foot prints in tiles.Cheap and cheerful and very easy to create.I admit,I tried her hand first-leave this up to the professionals-it was a disaster.
I went to our local tile shop, bought 6 white gloss tiles 25p each, child friendly pink paint and got to work!I gave her godparents, grandparents and her great grandad a tile each. They loved them!Great if you are on a budget.
When Amelia was 12 weeks,I got a professional hand and foot clay print done, which was framed.

Brushing baby’s Teeth

So as you can see,Amelia has finally got some teeth!First tooth came at 10 months, and 3 more followed over the next two weeks (my poor baby).
Now it’s time for brushing her teeth twice a day.I was worried she wouldn’t allow me to put the brush in her mouth, but she has been great,so far!
My husband gives her a nightly bath, while she is playing in the bath,he brushes them then,it’s a great distraction ,I do the morning!
It’s a good idea to start cleaning your baby’s teeth twice a day as soon as you see a tooth emerging. If you start early, your baby will get used to having his/her teeth cleaned, and hopefully you’ll avoid problems later on.

At first, you may find it easier to clean your baby’s teeth using a piece of clean gauze or muslin. Wrap it around your finger, put a tiny smear of toothpaste on it, and rub around your baby’s teeth.

If you’d rather use a brush, pick one with soft, round-ended bristles of differing lengths, and a small, angled head. This will allow you to reach all parts of your baby’s mouth easily and comfortably. Look at the packaging to see what age range the brush is designed for.
Happy Brushing x

Amelia’s first dressing gown

So it’s not exactly a dress per se,but it’s is a gown in itself!
Amelia’s first dressing gown arrived today, from the Little White Company and I love it!
Pink Floral,I think they may be out of stock, but have similar.

Mondays Child is wearing ….

Today’s dress is from one of my favourite brands “Little Bird” by Jools Oliver (Jamie Oliver’s wife),she designs this brand exclusively for Mothercare. I love her range of clothes and bedding,I’d describe it as 70’s old school,it’s really nostalgic!
Her range in the UK is from newborn to 6-7 years. Unfortunately in Ireland I have only seen newborn clothes from the range, but you could always again, use parcelmotel

Amelia’s 1st Birthday

With Amelia’s first birthday fast approaching I’m busy trying to organise her birthday party (I cannot believe she is almost 1), and deciding on her birthday gifts.
We were keen to get her a traditional rocking horse, something that would last and could be passed down through the family, however after much thought, we decided to wait another few years, as she could end up hurting herself on the one we had in mind.
I think we have made a decision and have gone with a traditional wooden pram and a soft rocking horse from Mamas and Papas.
Her Uncle is kindly getting her a rocking chair from ikea and her godmother/Auntie has got her a beautiful floral Tepee Tent.
Thanks to Kerry at www.ohsoamelia.com for the idea for the tepee tent!
What did you get your child for his/her first birthday?

1)Posy Wooden Pram £50 www.gltc.co.uk
2)floral wigwam/tepee £79.99 www.lovefromrosie.co.uk
3)SUNDVIK white rocking chair €30 www.ikea.com
4)Mamas and Papas Rocking Rosie Pony £59.99 www.amazon.co.uk

A diary to my daughter

20140302-182434.jpg

When I was pregnant, I wrote in a pregnancy journal every week and included a picture of my ever expanding belly. I wrote how I was feeling physically and emotionally as the pregnancy progressed. my plan is to give this to Amelia when she is older or maybe wait until she is pregnant with her first baby.i really enjoyed writing it.
Not sure what I would have done had she been a boy, maybe give to your son’s wife?
Now she is 11 months and I find I have very little free time, so I have started writing in this diary (pictured). its perfect, it is approx 7 pages per year, from birth to 18 years.I fill I our likes, dislikes, our fun days out, my wishes and dreams for her, illness and how she is developing.I will give her this for her 18th birthday.
I bought on amazon, for £13.99, I can highly recommend it.

Sunday Zara Navy Ditsy Floral Dress

image

Today Amelia wore a pretty navy floral dress from Zara’s Winter 2013 collection. It has lovely turn up sleeves, that can be left down, and a leather thin belt.

Zara’s sizes tend to be on the smaller side,so this is one size bigger (12-18 mths).tje neck is a little too big still.

I teamed the dress with red H&M tights and a navy clip.

The girl with a million dresses…….

When I found out I was pregnant, there are no words to describe how happy I was, then to add icing on the cake, I found out I was having a little at 20 weeks! The love and obsession for buying this little girl Amelia Rose dresses started there and then.I always think little girls look beautiful in dresses, and with some exception my little girl is in a dress everyday.
When she was about four months old, a friend and work colleague commented on a picture I had posted on Facebook “The girl with a million dresses”, and so the idea to blog was born.
It has taken me quite a while to get to it, and I will post some old pictures of the last 11 months. My favourite shops for Amelia’s dresses are generally, Zara,Jooles Oliver “Little Bird” range for Mothercare,John Lewis,Sarah Louise and DP.
